Gulf Coast Mensa is the Greater Houston/Texas Gulf Coast area chapter of American Mensa, Ltd. Mensa is a non-profit social organization for individuals with IQs in the top two percentile in the country. Founded in 1965 and boasting over 1100 members, Gulf Coast Mensa is the sixth largest local chapter in the country. It is our mission to provide each of our members the greatest opportunity to experience the benefits of Mensa that he or she seeks through intellectual stimulation, social connection, leadership development and community service.

Gulf Coast Mensa is first and foremost a social organization. That means we've got events happening just about all the time. If you aren't yet a member but want to get know who we are, feel free to check out our Public Events Calendar and meet up with us. Our public calendar won't include everything but it does include events like pub nights, karaoke, speaker meetings and more.
Gulf Coast Mensa awards three scholarships to applicants from the regional area. Scholarships are awarded solely based on essays submitted by students. No consideration is given to grades, academic program or financial need. Local scholarships are judged by a panel of at least three members of the local chapter for content, grammar, organization, and craftsmanship.
